Adventure Games

A new game in Ubisoft's long-running Prince of Persia series is reportedly in the works. In recent years, Ubisoft has already confirmed that it's working on a remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, which is likely the most popular installment in the franchise. And while the status of that remake is still up in the air at the time of this writing, it now sounds like Ubisoft has started to develop another entry, although it will be a bit different in nature.

Based on a new report from Fire, Ubisoft's Montpellier studio has started working on a new Prince of Persia title. The report states that rather than this being a new 3D Prince of Persia game, it will instead be set in a 2.5D environment. Ori and the Blind Forest and its sequel Ori and the Will of the Wisps were mentioned as inspirations for this new Prince of Persia project as well.

Although it might seem strange for Prince of Persia to get a new game in this style, when the series first began all the way back in 1989, is was more akin to a side-scroller. As such, this reported new entry in the franchise would have a lot more in common with the roots of the series than one would initially think.

For now, further details on when this upcoming Prince of Persia game might release are still unknown. Based on the report in mention, it sounds like work on the title could still be in the early stages, which means that it could take some time for it to see the light of day. Still, assuming that this report is accurate, it definitely tells us that Ubisoft has big plans for Prince of Persia in the future.

What do you think about this new Prince of Persia game based on the details that have been reported so far? Is this a game that you'd be interested in playing for yourself? Let me know either down in the comments or you can message me on social media at @MooreMan12.

Every PlayStation Movie and TV Show in Development

By CADE ONDER - May 28, 2022 06:54 pm EDT

Sony is currently cooking up a ton of PlayStation-related movies and TV shows. Over the last few years, Sony has been revving up its recently formed PlayStation Productions. The production company is currently working on at least 7 known projects, several of which are well-beyond the early stages of being a simple idea on a whiteboard. Some of these have already been shot, some are gearing up to shoot, some are in the scripting phase, you get the picture. Needless to say, PlayStation is actually very serious about this initiative, something that can't be said regarding a number of other studios attempting to adapt video games.

PlayStation Productions released its first project earlier this year in the form of the long-awaited Uncharted. The film adaptation of Naughty Dog's beloved game has been in the works for over a decade, exchanging hands with numerous directors, writers, and actors. The final film ended up with Tom Holland in the role of Nathan Drake and although the film wasn't a huge hit with critics, it pulled in a healthy amount of money at the box office and sets up a sequel, so it's likely more live-action Nathan Drake adventures are on the way at some point. A future Uncharted sequel is far from the only thing on Sony's plate, though.

We've rounded up all of the PlayStation films and shows Sony are making. There are likely others that haven't been officially disclosed, but this is the current list that is either outright confirmed or reported on by extremely reputable sources. Keep scrolling to see all of the projects that PlayStation Productions is working on.

The Last of Us - HBO TV Series

the-last-of-us.jpg

What will likely be the next release from PlayStation Productions is yet another Naughty Dog adaptation. HBO is adapting The Last of Us with Chornobyl's Craig Mazing and The Last of Us co-creator Neil Drachmann at the helm of the production. The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal will play Joel Miller and Game of Thrones actor Bella Ramsey will play Ellie Williams, two roles that carry a lot of baggage both due to their emotional arcs and how much they mean as characters to fans.

The show is expected to follow the story of the games pretty closely, but will still have new additions which reportedly include flashbacks and characters that were mentioned and not seen in the games. The show doesn't have a firm release date, but is expected to release sometime in 2023. The show is believed to still be filming, but is likely close to wrapping photography at the moment.

Twisted Metal - Peacock TV Series

Twisted Metal is also coming to the small screen, a video game series that has not been active since 2012. Peacock will air an adaptation of the game as a half-hour comedy starring the likes of Anthony Mackie, Thomas Haden Church, Neve Campbell, and many others, so it will be a star-studded affair. On paper, the show sounds pretty interesting, but it will likely be a tall order to accomplish given the stylized nature and scale of the Twisted Metal games. Shooting is currently either in the midst of filming or getting very close to entering production. It also has no firm release date, but is expected to release on Peacock at some point in 2023.

Ghost of Tsushima - Movie

ghost-of-tsushima.jpg

Following the major success of Ghost of Tsushima in 2020, Sony quickly moved to greenlight a film adaptation of the already very cinematic game. The movie will be helmed by director Chad Stahelski, the director of the John Wick series, so it's heavily expected that the film will feature some amazing action sequences. The film is currently being written by Takashi Doster, who is responsible for some indie films, but it's currently unclear how closely it will follow the game. Given the film is still being drafted, there's no release date and no casting information at the moment.

God of War - Amazon TV Series

god-of-war-ragnarok.png

God of War is making its way to the small screen via an Amazon TV series. Earlier this year, it was heavily rumored that Sony and Amazon were in talks to bring Kato's' story to life, but nothing was confirmed. Just this past week, Sony confirmed that God of War would be adapted for Amazon's streaming service, but it seems like it's likely in the very early stages. No director, writer, or cast have been attached to the project, but Dave Bautista suggested that he's open to play Kratoms, if only to prove some naysayers wrong.

Horizon - Netflix Series

horizon-forbidden-west.png

Another show that was confirmed this week was an adaptation of the Horizon series. This is the one that is most likely to not follow the games, since it has a very rich and expansive world with other unique characters outside of Alloy. God of War and Ghost of Tsushima's titles both reference a very specific character, so they're bound to their respective protagonists, but Horizon has the ability to branch out a bit more. As of right now, the only thing we know is that it's in the works at Netflix. There's no word on a release date, cast, or story.

Gran Turismo - Movie and/or TV Show

gran-turismo-movie.jpg

There are conflicting reports regarding what this project actually is, but Gran Turismo is getting some kind of adaptation. It was reported that Sony is eyeing District 9 director Neill Blomkamp to helm a Gran Turismo film, but it's unclear what the story would be. There were also reports that Sony stated a Gran Turismo show was in the works, but it's possible this was misreported and Sony meant that it was a film and nothing more. Regardless, something is happening and it's confusing fans.

Gran Turismo is an extremely detail-oriented racing franchise with no story, no high stakes action, or anything of the sorts, leaving many to wonder what the story would be. Some have speculated that a TV show could emulate something like Top Gear and just be a car reality show. As for what a film would look like, no one really knows.

Rockstar Games Insider Teases Imminent Reveal of "New Project"

By CADE ONDER - May 31, 2022 09:40 pm EDT

A Rockstar Games insider has teased the reveal of a brand new game. Rockstar Games has been rather quiet regarding its next game since the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018. It was the first brand-new game the developer had released in five years, with the prior game being Grand Theft Auto V. Rockstar is still riding the Grand Theft Auto V wave with re-releases, new content updates, and so forth, but fans are beginning to grow impatient as they look toward the future. Even Red Dead Online fans are growing annoyed as the game stopped receiving noteworthy updates over a year ago.

Well, fans may not have to wait much longer for new info. According to Chris Klippel, a well-known Rockstar Games insider, a "new project" will be revealed soon. Klippel said he doesn't know exact timing or which project it will be, but most fans will likely be hoping that it's Grand Theft Auto VI. Rockstar confirmed earlier this year that it is working on the next Grand Theft Auto, but has held off on sharing any meaningful details. There is speculation that a full reveal could be happening later this year, though there haven't been any reputable leaks or official details to suggest that is happening. That could be the project Klippel is suggesting or it could be the heavily rumored remake of Red Dead Redemption or another remaster/remake. Of course, nothing has been confirmed, so fans should take this with a grain of salt at the moment.

Sony is hosting a PlayStation State of Play later this week and Rockstar is quite close with the platform holder. Sony confirmed the show will focus on third-party games and VR titles, so it's possible Rockstar has a new VR game to showcase or is willing to show off one of those rumored remakes during the show. Rockstar isn't usually one to pop up at big events, but did debut the trailers for the PS5 re-release of Grand Theft Auto V at PlayStation events.

F1 22 Releases New Features Trailer

By MARC DESCHAMPS - May 31, 2022 08:58 pm EDT

With just over a month to go until the release of F1 22, Electronic Arts and Code masters have dropped an all-new features trailer. There are a lot of exciting things shown off in the video, including customization options, split-screen multiplayer, and a whole lot more. In the video, we also get to see things like pit stop errors, which should add an interesting bit of realism. Of course, the cars themselves will be one of the biggest draws, and players will likely be excited to see some of the new additions that weren't in last year's game!

The new features trailer can be found embedded below.

So far, F1 22 is definitely looking like an exciting upgrade! Reception to the trailer seems mostly positive, with a lot of players expressing interest in the F1 Life feature, which Code masters refers to as a "social hub." In a press release, Lee Mather, senior creative director at the developer, talked up F1 Life, and other improvements on previous F1 games.

"F1 22 allows players to live their Formula 1 fantasies both on and off the track," said Mather. "Players are excited to enter the new era of Formula 1 with the introduction of new cars, regulations, and more control of race day moments. F1 22 enables players to be more social with their friends away from the circuit. The personalized space within F1 Life allows players to show off their collection of must-have cars and accessories and be the envy of friends and rivals."

One of the most interesting new features in this year's game is the adaptive AI, which should make the experience easier or more challenging depending on the player's skill level. The game's PC version will also support VR capability, though it seems the option will not be available to players on PlayStation platforms. Fans will be able to check out all of these features and more when F1 22 releases July 1st on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Harry Potter Stars Reunite for Nintendo Switch Sports in New Photo

By JENNA ANDERSON - May 31, 2022 08:49 pm EDT

Two veterans of the Harry Potter film franchise recently reunited in an adorable way. Matthew Lewis and Tom Felton, who portrayed Neville Longbottom and Draco Malfoy, respectively, across all seven movies, recently joined forces for a Nintendo campaign. The pair united for some "friendly competition" of virtual sports, in celebration of the release of Nintendo Switch Sports. Based on a video posted to Lewis' Instagram, which you can check out below, it appears as if Felton won the match.

Felton and Lewis have been among the Harry Potter cast members to reunite over the years, with each of them speaking rather candidly about the longstanding impact of the film franchise.

"Yeah, I'm endlessly proud and affectionate of young Draco, so any chance to reprise that role would be great," Felton told Daily Mail. "I think we should come back and do the opposite, Rupert [Grant] should play Draco, I'll play Hermione, Dan can play Dobby, and Emma can be Hagrid, it's the perfect re-casting! It'll be an interesting spin [on it]. But, seriously, if there was another chance to be in another movie then I'm sure all of us would jump at the chance to be part of it."

And with the idea of reboots and revivals only becoming more prevalent in pop culture, both Felton and Longbottom have addressed the possibility of new installments.

"I don't think Jo [Rowling] would want her films, her books rather and her films, to be remade anytime soon, but I'm sure in 20 years when they've got 4D, scratch-and-sniff cinemas, or whatever, then they'll want to do it all over again," Felton explained in the same interview. "My hope is that when they do it I'll be old enough to play Lucius. Give it another 15 years and I'll come back and play Lucius. I would do it in a heartbeat."

"I think that it would have actually served really well as a TV series. In the current era of right now, maybe not when it came out, but in the world of Game of Thrones and what HBO was doing, BBC America, all these kind of things — I think it actually would have translated really well," Lewis previously said at Fax Salt Lake Comic Convention. "As we'll probably see with the Lord of the Rings stuff on Amazon. There's so much wealth in the story, in the universe, it would have been nice to see a lot more of the Wizarding World itself."

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 Will Reportedly Feature Multiple Maps

By CADE ONDER - May 31, 2022 08:23 pm EDT

Call of Duty Warzone 2 will reportedly feature multiple maps, including one that is on the scale of Rebirth Island, the original game's more arcade-y map. When Call of Duty: Warzone launched in March 2020, it only featured one map. Although the map was a blast for months, fans quickly grew tired of having a singular battlefield. Later that year, Raven Software and Trey arch added Rebirth Island to launch around the time of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. The map allowed players to experience a fast-paced match of intense action, giving variety to the core Warzone experience.

It seems Raven is aware that this is a highly desired option and will be retaining it in Call of Duty: Warzone 2. In a new report from Exporter, a source revealed that a second map could be seen in the menu for the game during playtests, but it wasn't playable. It's believed that the map will be similar in scale to Rebirth Island and scratch the same itch. The report noted that the map will likely release months after the game releases to allow a dip feed of content to keep players engaged and coming back for more. If true, it seems highly unlikely we'll actually see anything from the map before the game comes out. It's believed that Call of Duty: Warzone 2 will launch sometime in late 2022 or early 2023, sometime after the upcoming release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II.

As of right now, some fans are expecting to learn more about Warzone 2 in the coming weeks. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is expected to have a grand unveiling on June 8th, 2022, but it's unclear what will be shown and how much will be shared. Either way, it sounds like Raven is hard at work on another varied battle royal. Whether or not fans will respond to it as strongly as they did the first game remains to be seen.
